Newcastle Breweries and Taprooms: Where to Drink Local Craft Beer
Where to drink Newcastle beer at the brewery, from Wylam's Palace of Arts to Ouseburn taprooms, with the days each one actually opens.
The Newcastle breweries worth visiting for a pint at source are Wylam in the Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, Brinkburn Street and Full Circle in the Ouseburn, Two by Two in Byker and Anarchy at Benfield, with Overkill Brewing working from the cellar of the Brandling Villa in South Gosforth. Most taprooms only open late in the week, usually Thursday or Friday to Sunday, so check days before you set off. Full Circle is also opening a pub on the first floor of Fenwick, which was still marked coming soon when we checked on 21 October 2026.
Wylam Brewery, Exhibition Park
Wylam brews and hosts events in the Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, NE2 4PZ. The tap room pours Wylam cask and keg, including beers and blends you will only find there, plus guest keg lines. It opens Friday 3pm to 11pm, Saturday midday to 11pm and Sunday midday to 7pm, with burgers from the Wylam Grill on Friday and Saturday and roasts on Sunday. No booking is needed for drinks. Wylam also runs a busy events programme: see our Wylam Brewery listing and the brewery's own site, which currently shows a Pints and Pooches Halloween special on Saturday 31 October and gigs on 4 and 5 November.
Brinkburn Street Brewery, Ford Street
Brinkburn Street Brewery is at Unit 1A Ford Street in the Ouseburn Valley, and every beer on the bar is brewed in the microbrewery on site, from session ales to IPAs and stouts. It is the most reliable taproom in the city for opening hours, open seven days: noon to 9pm Monday, to 10pm Tuesday and Wednesday, to 11pm Thursday, 11am to midnight Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8pm Sunday. The kitchen does North East small plates, burgers and Sunday roasts, so it works as a proper dinner stop rather than just a bar.
Full Circle Brew Co, Hoults Yard
Full Circle's brewery and taproom is at Hoults Yard in Byker, just east of the Ouseburn Valley. It hosted Full Circle Fest on 18 and 19 September 2026 and runs a run club from the taproom every Thursday at 6pm, which ends where you would expect. Brewery tours can be booked through the Full Circle website. The site does not list fixed taproom hours, so check before you go.
Full Circle at Fenwick, Northumberland Street
Full Circle is opening its first pub away from Hoults Yard on the first floor of Fenwick, in the space that was the Golden Flake Tavern, Fenwick's 2025 collaboration with Greggs. The plan is 12 taps and two cask lines, mostly Full Circle beer with rotating guests from other independent UK breweries, and fried chicken and smash burgers from Newcastle street food operator Peckin' Order. It was due in October 2026, but on 21 October its site still read coming soon with no date, so do not plan a night around it until it opens.
Two by Two Brewery Tap, Byker
Two by Two moved its brewing to Unit 8, Morley's Yard in Byker and opened a tap there, about 460 metres from Byker Metro. Expect two cask beers and eight keg lines, a fridge with gluten free and alcohol free options, quiz nights, DJs and occasional food vendors. Dogs are welcome and there are monthly dog socials. It is closed Monday to Wednesday and opens Thursday 5pm to 10pm, Friday 3pm to 11pm, Saturday noon to 11pm and Sunday 2pm to 9pm. You will also find Two by Two on the bars at Freight Island on the Eldon Square rooftop.
Anarchy Brew Co, Benfield
Anarchy brews at Unit A1, Benfield Business Park, off Benfield Road in the east of the city. The taproom is open every Friday and Saturday, subject to live events, and opens for selected Newcastle United games. Hours are not published on the main site, so check the Anarchy events page first. Anarchy beers also turn up regularly at the Tyne Bar in the Ouseburn if you cannot get out to Benfield.
Overkill Brewing at the Brandling Villa, South Gosforth
Overkill Brewing is in the cellar of the Brandling Villa on Haddricks Mill Road, five minutes from South Gosforth Metro, and its beer is sold upstairs alongside around ten changing guests on handpump. Beers are served in thirds and two-thirds, not halves, which suits working through a flight. The pub also runs brewery takeovers and beer festivals.
Good to know
A Saturday afternoon covers the most ground: Wylam opens at midday, and Brinkburn Street, Full Circle and Two by Two are all in the Ouseburn and Byker, close enough to combine. Monday to Wednesday, Brinkburn Street is your only sure bet among the taprooms. Manors and Byker are the nearest Metro stations for the Ouseburn sites. For pubs with strong local beer lists see our bars guide, and for brewery events and festivals check What's On.
