Restaurants
From Michelin-starred fine dining to beloved local favourites
Peace & Loaf
Dave Coulson's inventive modern British restaurant in Jesmond, serving a tasting menu that's playful, precise, and deeply rooted in North East ingredients. The pigeon and the desserts are particularly memorable.

Broad Chare
Terry Laybourne's Quayside pub restaurant does proper North East cooking - potted shrimps, pease pudding, stotties, and an excellent Sunday roast. The best of regional British food, done right.
Blackfriars
Set in a 13th-century former Dominican friary - arguably the oldest purpose-built dining room in the UK. The cooking is modern British with a strong Northumbrian accent, and the medieval banquet hall is extraordinary.

Dabbawal
Pioneering Indian street food that's raised the bar for Indian dining in Newcastle. The tiffin boxes are packed with flavour, the thalis are generous, and the modern approach to Indian cooking feels fresh and exciting.
Riley's Fish Shack
A beach shack on King Edward's Bay serving the freshest seafood, grilled over fire on the sand. The setting is magical - waves crashing, smoke rising, lobster dripping with butter. Worth the journey.

Fenwick Food Hall
The food hall in Fenwick's flagship Newcastle store is a treasure trove of fine produce, cheese, charcuterie, and baked goods. The in-house restaurants and cafes make it a destination in its own right.
